The 2025 Global Health & Purpose Summit concludes with a powerful closing session led by Amy Terpeluk, Global Purpose & Social Impact Practice Lead at FINN Partners, introduced and hosted by Gil Bashe, Chair of Global Health & Purpose. In her presentation, “Purpose and Social Impact in an Era of Change,” Terpeluk explores the evolving role of corporate purpose amid political, cultural, and technological disruption.

She offers a concise, compelling analysis of how purpose has shifted over decades—from early definitions of corporate social responsibility to the rise of corporate sustainability, equity initiatives, and climate commitments. As terms become politicized and language changes, Terpeluk urges companies not to abandon the work, but to stay focused on action, outcomes, and values-driven leadership. She emphasizes that purpose is not a passing trend—it is a strategic imperative tied to long-term reputation, stakeholder trust, and business performance.

In a digital and AI-shaped world, she warns, silence is not neutral; it becomes content, scored and interpreted. Companies must communicate thoughtfully, consistently, and with credibility. Purpose, when done right, is not performative—it is about clarity, character, and measurable progress.

As the summit closes, Terpeluk calls for leadership that delivers tangible benefits—for people, for communities, and for the planet. The path forward demands more than promises—it calls for enduring action grounded in integrity, accountability, and impact.

Joley Michaelson, Founder and CEO of The Sun Company, is presenting a timely session on the role of clean energy in supporting stronger global health systems. Hosted by Christina Raish, Associate Vice President and Special Projects Lead at FINN Partners, the session examines how distributed renewable energy can improve the reliability of healthcare delivery, reduce costs, and help facilities operate without interruption.

Drawing on her experience in the energy sector, including past leadership roles at Tesla, Michaelson outlines the challenges posed by outdated, fossil-fuel-dependent energy systems in healthcare. She presents The Sun Company’s Independent Renewable Energy Power Plant (IREP) as a practical solution—an integrated, on-site microgrid that provides consistent and low-emission power for hospitals and clinics.

Michaelson shares examples from healthcare sites in California, sub-Saharan Africa, and elsewhere where clean energy systems are already reducing carbon emissions, improving access to care, and strengthening energy security. She highlights how renewable infrastructure, combined with long-duration storage and facility-specific planning, can meet the needs of both urban hospitals and remote health posts.

This session encourages healthcare leaders to take practical steps toward energy independence and operational resilience by adopting reliable and sustainable energy systems that align with their mission to protect and support human health.
