Dow rises 180 points to a fresh record high despite disappointing U.S. jobs report

Stocks rose to record levels on Friday, on pace for another weekly advance, as traders shook off a disappointing U.S. jobs report. The Dow Jones Industrial Average traded higher by 181 points, or 0.6%. The S&P 500 gained 0.7%, and the Nasdaq Composite advanced 0.6%.Chevron and Caterpillar rose 2.7% and 3.4%, respectively, to lead the Dow higher. Energy was the best-performing S&P 500 sector, gaining 4.1%.Friday’s jump left the major averages on track for their fourth weekly gain in five weeks. Week to date, the Dow is up 0.8%.
