Mortgage Rates Trended Higher This Week | October 2 & 3, 2021

The average interest rate on a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage ended the week at 3.434%, 0.026 percentage points higher than on Monday. Most other loan categories also saw higher rates in recent days.
Freddie Mac’s benchmark rate also jumped above 3% this week. Still, rates remain near historic lows and well-qualified borrowers still have the opportunity to buy a home or refinance their mortgages at attractive rates and low monthly payments.
