Tesla Sold 343,000 Vehicles in Third Quarter, an Increase

Tesla said on Sunday that it sold 343,830 electric vehicles worldwide in the third quarter, more than the same period a year ago, when it delivered 241,391 vehicles.The company said it produced 365,923 cars, compared with a year-ago total of 237,823.Earlier this year, Tesla suffered a slump in sales because of shutdowns and raw materials shortages at the carmaker’s factory in Shanghai.Tesla sells far more electric vehicles than all the other car companies except for rivals in China, the world’s largest market for the vehicles. About a quarter of all new vehicles that have been sold in China this year have been electric or plug-in hybrid models.Competition is increasing, however. Ford Motor has introduced an electric version of its F-150 pickup truck and has taken customer reservations for about 200,000.
