The company history of the AUDI AG originates in the year 1899. On November 14, August Horch founds the Horch & Cie. Motorenwerke.
After the founding companies DKW, Horch, Wanderer and Audi went forward in their individual paths, they united themselves in 1932 and the Auto Union AG was born. The symbol of this union still characterizes the brand Audi: the four intertwined rings.
Thus, a lot of cars already bear the name Audi, even before the Audi NSU Auto Union AG becomes the AUDI AG in 1985. The new company headquarters in Ingolstadt underline that historic step.
Today Audi looks towards new technologies and new goals: Hybrid vehicles, electric mobility, digitization and autonomous driving. With all these topics, Audi works on the automobile future. Always driven by the conviction: “Vorsprung durch Technik”.
Today, this slogan is known all over the world. The slogan´s first appearance takes place in a different context with Audi in 1971. In which one? Stepin and join us on our journey through our milestones starting from the beginning of the company leading up to topics of the present day.
