SEASONS IN THE CAYMAN ISLANDS
November – March – Escape harsh winters and enjoy Cayman’s brilliant sunshine and a constant pleasant sea breeze. Temperatures range from 77-82 degrees Fahrenheit and beckon visits to enjoy the outdoors. Festivities are plentiful ranging from Pirates Week, a weeklong celebration which includes a parade, fireworks and re-creation of a pirates’ landing in the town Harbour, and island-wide Heritage Days highlighting the island’s history, produce and locally-cooked cuisine. The resort and destination also feature holiday season festivities and activities, as well as the world-renowned Cayman Cookout, at the culinary capital of the Caribbean.
April – June – Temperatures are in the low 80s and are perfect to usher in the spring season. Residents and locals head to the beach to enjoy traditional camping. This family-style event is island-wide, and tents dot the coastline. The Farmers Market is also in full swing with bushels of fresh tomatoes and greens, which many chefs utilize in their restaurants and at home. The comedy show “Rundown” (which is a term for a stew which has a little bit of everything) begins the first week of May. The popular performance has been running for 21 years and encompasses local events, politics and much more.
July – October – Temperatures are in the low 80s and with children enjoying their summer break, the island takes on a slower, relaxed pace. Exploration and excitement abound with beach adventures, picnics, experiencing the island’s dynamic restaurant scene or attending the amazing Cayman International Film Festival (CayFilm). Brunches, wine tastings and culinary events also abound and are a great opportunity for visitors, families, or friends to gather together.
