THE CONVERSATION

Session overview

The presenter introduces WinQuest, an augmented-reality treasure-hunting app that connects games, prizes and local merchant offers. A walkthrough describes following clues, answering trivia questions and finding a digital treasure chest. The business concept uses participants’ brand and hobby interests to match them with relevant coupons and help local retailers reach potential customers. At recording, the initial app was approaching launch, while a broader advertising platform remained a future ambition. The discussion explores using artificial intelligence to connect merchants and users in real time. Questions also cover target audiences, product development, funding and the proposed transition from gaming to augmented-reality advertising.

  1. The presenter introduces WinQuest, an augmented-reality treasure-hunting app that connects games, prizes and local merchant offers.

0:56–1:46 whenquest is an augmented reality treasure hunting app game and and with other games it's a platform that's global that took us several years to build it's like Pokemon go but um we also have the whole data mining process right giving people credits and doubloom points for giving their data so that we could help them find coupons for the things that they like so it's a gaming chance to win at uh fun game and chance to win app that gives people a chance to also get discounts on the brands that they like we then take their brand products and hobby interest data and match it with Merchants through our platform

4:57–5:37 the other problem that we're looking to solve is we're looking to drive people into you know local stores through heading them as treasure hunt points and or helping them become aware of the discounts that are random in their area right so this will help real retailers and drive you know winquest use this to their locations whether there's a treasure hunt in an area or not so instead of buying all the time online people can be more engaged in coupons in their area through our platform

  2. A walkthrough describes following clues, answering trivia questions and finding a digital treasure chest.

5:51–6:55 Quest app you can press on the diamond to see if there's a treasure hunt in your area if there is then press start and you will get a clue press accept and it will then take you to several locations before getting to the digital treasure chest in between locations there are trivia questions if you get them right you can proceed to the next location if not you need to wait eight minutes so you can use your loot to get the clues for the next locations when you get to the final stop the camera will turn on and you will see the AR treasure chest when you click on it it will open and then you click on the prizes that come out of the treasure chest so we're going to go into trivia to accumulate some points and say we click on fashion we have the question and for multiple choice answers when you get the question right you accumulate points and then those points again can be used in a free monthly raffle giveaway how much would it cost to rent a standard Elite SUV if you get it right you accumulate points thank you

  3. The business concept uses participants’ brand and hobby interests to match them with relevant coupons and help local retailers reach potential customers.

1:09–1:46 but um we also have the whole data mining process right giving people credits and doubloom points for giving their data so that we could help them find coupons for the things that they like so it's a gaming chance to win at uh fun game and chance to win app that gives people a chance to also get discounts on the brands that they like we then take their brand products and hobby interest data and match it with Merchants through our platform

4:24–5:37 so what we're doing is we're accumulating data first in exchange for the chance to win so with you know you know a data platform Merchants will be able to reach people that actually have interest in their brands and product the brand product they're um interesting you know offers that they have um so this will help a lot with the target market advertising and it'll cut on the cost because target market advertising is very expensive right now and it's going up every year Okay so the other problem that we're looking to solve is we're looking to drive people into you know local stores through heading them as treasure hunt points and or helping them become aware of the discounts that are random in their area right so this will help real retailers and drive you know winquest use this to their locations whether there's a treasure hunt in an area or not so instead of buying all the time online people can be more engaged in coupons in their area through our platform

11:51–13:12 exactly the thing is is we use the chance to win obviously as a motivating force to get more data but we're not being intrusive with that data we're getting brand product and hobby interest data to try to help you get discounts on the things that you like and in exchange you get points inside the game that you can get into bigger cash price giveaways in our games of skill contest right so now we're accumulating this database and there's a there's a certain amount of there's like three brands that you have to pick as you register to come into the app and so we're collecting that you know that brand uh Affinity data for you know from from our users and then as we build that database and it transitions exactly what you said to matching it with a Merchants database it's a it's called a hot lead platform it's like uh platform that Facebook has where you can get more targeted information as far as you know uh what people like if you're selling Nike sneakers on our platform you know on a platform you'll be able to reach people who like Nike sneakers with uh in-store or on load you know uh you know codes either a dynamic QR code for in-store applications or an online code for them to purchases online

  4. At recording, the initial app was approaching launch, while a broader advertising platform remained a future ambition.

2:44–2:55 again it took us several years to build this platform and we're launching in the next couple of days it looks like in the Google Play Store and we'll be focused on in Madrid

9:36–10:04 your timeline slide okay so we have uh there was a little a bit of a delay but uh this is how long it's taken to build this app since uh 2018 we've been building this app and we're actually launching this week there was a several delays and updates with the Google Play Store if you know anything about software yeah there's always uh upgrades and updates so yeah so it's been a massive pro project and uh

13:55–14:43 but we would that then it transitions into the AI algorithms connecting Merchants to users in real time you know as a modern day switchboard to connect them with local coupons they like you know to present things still in real time through an augmented reality billboard through their own phone or augmented reality commercials and we'll give Brands the opportunity to advertise through the augmented reality world to people without having to charge them much because I think meta charge is like 50 to advertise anything any kind of product on your metaverse so you were looking to help Brands and we're helping look at how people with you know getting coupons for the things that they like

  5. The discussion explores using artificial intelligence to connect merchants and users in real time.

  6. Questions also cover target audiences, product development, funding and the proposed transition from gaming to augmented-reality advertising.

10:36–11:51 um uh engaged customers the idea as you as you're looking to launch uh any any age group for this or uh you know cross cross-sectional here how does it how does how do you who who's interested in in Virtual treasure hunts because because I I love Maps right I'm a big I'm an old map guy and so so that whole concept of kind of looking and stuff sounds fun to me yeah yeah so um we're looking at 18 to 35 but I reached a bigger demographic it goes you know it really doesn't have an age limit because it's a fun trivial chance to win cash and prize is looking for treasure hunts you know looking for the augmented reality Treasure Chest so it reaches a bigger demographic than uh than the Pokemon go you know uh audience which is between 18 and 35. now you said future promise from an augmented reality standpoint to be the digital ad platform at some point right coming down when when does that pivot start does it is it first first out as a gaming type of piece and then eventually as you build up that kind of statistical data and uh Market intelligence it winds up pivoting over how do you see that uh

13:55–15:08 but we would that then it transitions into the AI algorithms connecting Merchants to users in real time you know as a modern day switchboard to connect them with local coupons they like you know to present things still in real time through an augmented reality billboard through their own phone or augmented reality commercials and we'll give Brands the opportunity to advertise through the augmented reality world to people without having to charge them much because I think meta charge is like 50 to advertise anything any kind of product on your metaverse so you were looking to help Brands and we're helping look at how people with you know getting coupons for the things that they like but uh we'll also making money yeah developing developing that platform getting generating those Affinity leads all very promising so you said a million dollars uh was the seed the seed uh uh offering at this point or or uh ask I guess yes yes and it's important it's important to note that this is MVP it's not just plans we've built this product out and I can do demonstrations for

0:08welcome back to one startup World our

0:112023 Summer Conference uh it is the

0:14Premier Global startup conference

0:15dedicated to helping Innovative and

0:17disruptive startups succeed it is the

0:19perfect platform and meeting place for

0:22startup Founders to pitch their ideas

0:24gain valuable insights connect with

0:26other like-minded entrepreneurs spend

0:28some time and hear from industry experts

0:31possible investors as well as uh

0:33Financial Partners all learning from

0:35each other here and as we build this

0:36community we're next joined uh by the

0:39founder and CEO of windquest uh

0:42Christopher faraguno and he's joining us

0:44today from Puerto Rico good morning

0:45Chris thank you for uh for joining one

0:47startup World let me hand it off over to

0:49you and we look forward to hearing about

0:50windquest

0:51okay yeah nice to meet you okay so uh

0:56whenquest is an augmented reality

0:58treasure hunting app

1:00game and and with other games it's a

1:03platform that's global that took us

1:06several years to build it's like Pokemon

1:08go

1:09but um we also have the whole data

1:14mining process right giving people

1:17credits and doubloom points for giving

1:20their data so that we could help them

1:23find coupons for the things that they

1:24like so it's a gaming chance to win at

1:29uh fun game and chance to win app that

1:33gives people a chance to also get

1:36discounts on the brands that they like

1:38we then take their

1:40brand products and hobby interest data

1:42and match it with Merchants through our

1:45platform

1:46and then 2.0 in the future we have

1:51patents in

1:53to

1:55um use AI as like a modern day switchboard

1:58to connect Merchants to users in real

2:01time

2:03with uh you know what the database is

2:05being matched and then a coupon matching

2:09that data profile being sent back to the

2:12user and then

2:14go when we would go into augment an

2:16augmented reality digitally platform

2:19providing you know digital Ed uh

2:22augmented reality digital lab

2:24ads and videos

2:26so we have patents in for that and we

2:29got the uh on the opinion letter we got

2:31the novelty for it globally that whole

2:34ecosystem and that whole augmented

2:37reality AI AR uh machine learning

2:41platform that we're looking to build

2:44again it took us several years to build

2:46this platform and we're launching in the

2:49next couple of days it looks like in the

2:50Google Play Store

2:52and we'll be focused on in Madrid

2:55and uh let me just

2:57show you my

3:00pitch deck

3:01the wind Quest okay uh basically allows

3:05everybody to get into a reality show so

3:08everybody's a contestant you have a

3:10chance to win and that's what makes us a

3:12little bit different and uh so now you

3:14don't have to just watch on television

3:15if you have a cell phone you can get

3:17involved in some of our contests if

3:20they're you know the augmented reality

3:21contests in your area you can get

3:23involved in that uh we're also

3:26developing out trivia contests and guess

3:29the price contest that'll be Global so

3:32you can enter into those contests to win

3:34bigger cash and prizes

3:37so basically

3:40what's the problem

3:42well one of the biggest problems we're

3:46solving

3:47is for merchants and Brands because when

3:49they advertise a lot of times with

3:52magazines and television advertising

3:55blindly

3:56right so I call it black hole marketing

4:00okay so you can put an ad in a magazine

4:03for 250 000 get a full page and you

4:06won't know who bought off of that ad who

4:10was you know was how that ad did and how

4:13it performed you just know that it's in

4:15a magazine that somebody might be

4:17interested in because they like luxury

4:19Brands they might like your watch

4:20company because you're in that magazine

4:24so what we're doing is we're

4:25accumulating data first in exchange for

4:27the chance to win so with you know you

4:30know a data platform

4:32Merchants will be able to reach people

4:34that actually have interest in their

4:36brands and product the brand product

4:39they're um interesting

4:41you know offers that they have

4:44um so this will help a lot with the

4:46target market advertising and it'll cut

4:49on the cost because

4:50target market advertising is very

4:53expensive right now and it's going up

4:54every year

4:56Okay so

4:57the other problem that we're looking to

4:59solve is we're looking to drive people

5:02into you know local

5:04stores through heading them as treasure

5:07hunt points and or

5:09helping them become aware of the

5:11discounts that are random in their area

5:14right so

5:17this will help real retailers and drive

5:20you know winquest use this to their

5:22locations whether there's a treasure

5:24hunt in an area or not so instead of

5:28buying all the time online people can be

5:31more engaged in coupons in their area

5:33through our platform

5:37uh if it's okay I'm gonna play a quick

5:39video here on winquest

5:42so

5:45oh it's not working okay so not a

5:48problem

5:51Quest app you can press on the diamond

5:53to see if there's a treasure hunt in

5:54your area if there is then press start

5:57and you will get a clue press accept and

5:59it will then take you to several

6:00locations before getting to the digital

6:02treasure chest in between locations

6:04there are trivia questions if you get

6:05them right you can proceed to the next

6:07location if not you need to wait eight

6:09minutes so you can use your loot to get

6:11the clues for the next locations when

6:14you get to the final stop the camera

6:16will turn on and you will see the AR

6:17treasure chest when you click on it it

6:19will open and then you click on the

6:20prizes that come out of the treasure

6:22chest

6:26so we're going to go into trivia to

6:28accumulate some points

6:29and say we click on fashion we have the

6:32question and for multiple choice answers

6:34when you get the question right you

6:37accumulate points and then those points

6:40again can be used in a free monthly

6:41raffle giveaway

6:45how much would it cost to rent a

6:47standard Elite SUV

6:49if you get it right you accumulate

6:51points thank you

6:55we have a digital wheel that spins all

6:57the names that are included in the

6:59raffle and then it will pick a winner

7:02and the confetti is falling he won the

7:06new co-op

7:09so you have four chances to get those

7:13full live boxes and one of those live

7:15boxes could be a special number for

7:17larger cash prizes

7:26okay

7:31all right so the markets that we're

7:33looking to impact uh there's a global

7:36augmented reality gaming Market

7:38sector

7:40this uh says 28 building 28 billion but

7:44Grandview research

7:46since I believe this deck has said it's

7:48going to be a 274 billion dollar sector

7:51by 2027.

7:53so it's got a 52 percent cagr which is

7:57really exciting and then uh we're

8:00looking to go you know impact the global

8:03digital ad Market by bringing it into

8:05augmented reality you don't get to

8:07reality

8:08digital ad

8:11uh ability with our app and platform we

8:14have a lot of different uh

8:17revenue streams as far as like the whole

8:20premium model in-app purchase purchases

8:25Merchant coupons

8:27uh one of the biggest revenue streams is

8:30the data that will collect

8:33this possibility for a reality show

8:36also uh it looks like a lot of AD

8:39revenue and make a lot of money to

8:42Merchant affiliate coupons

8:47yay this is my team

8:50Greg Jose is the chief I.T architect

8:54Al gomore is a senior advisor

8:58um it's myself

9:00and so I'm going to look into launch in

9:03the next uh

9:04week here and we're looking for you know

9:07one meal seed investment with

9:10convertible notes

9:11and uh so that's basically the platform

9:15I mean the uh pitch deck hey Chris could

9:18you uh could you just back up on on the

9:21timeline one more time you jumped

9:22through that kind of quick is that

9:24possible because that'd be important for

9:26the audience to see I think okay what

9:28would you like you'd like to see just

9:30the second to last slide would be great

9:31that timeline slide

9:36your timeline slide okay so we have uh

9:39there was a little a bit of a delay but

9:41uh this is how long it's taken to build

9:44this app since uh 2018 we've been

9:46building this app and we're actually

9:48launching this week there was a

9:50several delays and updates with the

9:53Google Play Store if you know anything

9:55about software yeah there's always uh

9:58upgrades and updates so yeah so it's

10:00been a massive pro project and uh

10:04you know it's a it's a global

10:06undertaking you know with the code and

10:08everything so you know it's interesting

10:10you you called you said hey it's a

10:13fascinating way to think about AI as

10:14kind of a modern day switchboard what a

10:17what a what an interesting way to think

10:19about it but so true when you when you

10:21think about the potential and you think

10:23of like Lily Tomlin right from uh

10:25um dating myself from uh from television

10:28all those years ago kind of pushing and

10:30pulling all the wires out but what what

10:32a great way to think about it to that

10:34standpoint how about

10:36um uh engaged customers the idea as you

10:39as you're looking to launch uh

10:41any any age group for this or uh you

10:45know cross cross-sectional here how does

10:47it how does how do you who who's

10:49interested in in Virtual treasure hunts

10:51because because I I love Maps right I'm

10:53a big I'm an old map guy and so so that

10:55whole concept of kind of looking and

10:57stuff sounds fun to me yeah yeah so

11:00um we're looking at 18 to 35 but I

11:03reached a bigger demographic it goes you

11:06know it really doesn't have an age limit

11:07because it's a fun trivial chance to win

11:11cash and prize is looking for treasure

11:13hunts you know looking for the augmented

11:15reality Treasure Chest so it reaches a

11:18bigger demographic than uh

11:21than the Pokemon go you know uh audience

11:24which is between 18 and 35.

11:27now you said future promise from an

11:30augmented reality standpoint to be the

11:31digital ad platform at some point right

11:35coming down when when does that pivot

11:38start does it is it first first out as a

11:41gaming type of piece and then eventually

11:43as you build up that kind of statistical

11:45data and uh Market intelligence it winds

11:49up pivoting over how do you see that uh

11:51exactly the thing is is we use the

11:54chance to win obviously as a motivating

11:57force to get more data but we're not

12:00being intrusive with that data we're

12:01getting brand product and hobby interest

12:03data to try to help you get discounts on

12:05the things that you like and in exchange

12:07you get points inside the game that you

12:10can get into bigger cash price giveaways

12:12in our games of skill contest right so

12:16now we're accumulating this database and

12:18there's a there's a certain amount of

12:20there's like three brands that you have

12:22to pick as you register to come into the

12:24app and so we're collecting that you

12:27know that brand uh Affinity data for you

12:31know from from our users and then as we

12:34build that database and it transitions

12:36exactly what you said to matching it

12:38with a Merchants database it's a it's

12:41called a hot lead

12:42platform it's like uh platform that

12:45Facebook has where

12:47you can get more targeted information as

12:50far as you know uh what people like if

12:54you're selling Nike sneakers on our

12:56platform you know on a platform you'll

12:57be able to reach people who like Nike

12:59sneakers with uh in-store or on load you

13:03know uh you know codes either a dynamic

13:06QR code for in-store applications or an

13:09online code for them to purchases online

13:12but we're looking to match and and you

13:15know help the merchant and help the user

13:18and not charge

13:20uh anything until someone buys so we're

13:24using the Groupon model so that we can

13:27disrupt the digital ad you know uh

13:30sector in the future all right you could

13:33you could say well that's a that's a big

13:35dream but you know Mr Beast uh you know

13:39started doing giveaways within two four

13:41years you had 200 million people

13:43following you right so uh if you have

13:46200 million people on the platform you

13:49know it could become the digital edit

13:51platform that I'm talking about and the

13:54uh it doesn't even have to be that big

13:55but we would that then it transitions

13:58into

13:59the AI algorithms connecting Merchants

14:02to users in real time

14:04you know as a modern day switchboard to

14:07connect them with local coupons

14:09they like you know to present things

14:12still in real time

14:14through an augmented reality billboard

14:16through their own phone or augmented

14:19reality commercials and we'll give

14:21Brands the opportunity to advertise

14:23through the augmented reality world to

14:25people without having to charge them

14:28much because I think meta charge is like

14:2950 to

14:31advertise anything any kind of product

14:34on your metaverse so

14:37you were looking to help Brands and

14:39we're helping look at how people with

14:41you know getting coupons for the things

14:42that they like

14:43but uh we'll also making money yeah

14:46developing developing that platform

14:47getting generating those Affinity leads

14:50all very promising so you said a million

14:52dollars uh was the seed the seed uh

14:55uh offering at this point or or uh ask I

14:59guess yes yes and it's important it's

15:01important to note that this is MVP it's

15:03not just plans we've built this product

15:06out and I can do demonstrations for

15:08anybody interested in uh you had some IP

15:11pending right I think you said that as

15:13part of the talk yeah we had some

15:15patents uh that went in on our first on

15:18our first patent we did get the patent

15:21in one one country but uh the second

15:24patent the patents of pending but we had

15:26the novelty granted through the opinion
