Noor Mukadam and violence against women in Pakistan

Noor Mukadam, a 27-year-old woman and daughter of Pakistan’s former ambassador to South Korea, was brutally killed in Islamabad on July 20. The alleged killer, Zahir Zamir Jaffer, was reportedly her acquaintance. According to police reports, he beheaded Mukadam after shooting her. Violence against women is widespread in Pakistan, but the recent spate of women killings has shocked the South Asian nation.
