Texas native Art first saw a hot air balloon when he was 16 and thought, “That would be a lot better profession than this.” He was working in a garden at the time. He was immediately enthralled and attracted by the thought of one day flying his own hot air balloon. A pilot approached him when he was crossing Balloon Fiesta Field in Albuquerque five years later, in 1997, and asked if he could help. After working with her for a week, Art developed a passion for the sport and was hired as crew leader by a local ride company. Years of crewing and collecting led to the purchase of a balloon and the beginning of the collection of provisions.
