The U.S. added 943,000 jobs in July, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported. That’s nearly 100,000 more than economists had predicted, according to the Associated Press. The unemployment rate fell to 5.4 percent, down from 5.9 percent in June.The economy has recovered nearly 17 million jobs since the pandemic-induced recession last spring, but employment is still down 5.7 million compared with February 2020.
